National Geographic's Best Trips for 2016

Danube River 

There are many ways to appreciate the impressive Danube, but a cruise is the best way of all. The famous river passes by so many historical sights and quaint villages, not to mention a cruise gives you a unique perspective from the water and the views are stunning. This cruise takes you from Prague to Budapest, stopping in Nuremberg and Vienna along the way. Highlights include visiting an ancient Roman fort, built in 179 AD, beer tasting in Germany, and taking a guided tour of Benedictine Abby, which dates back to the 11th century.

Glasgow, Scotland 

Glasgow has been undergoing a renaissance, attempting to leave it's rough reputation in the past. Brimming with art galleries, interesting new restaurants, and striving to represent a new side of itself, Glasgow entices with it's history and innovation. It maintains an edge, but has steadily become a more family friendly destination. On this tour you have a chance to dive into Glasgow's long, often tumultuous history, as well as experience a newer side of the city.

Capability Brown's Gardens, Britain 

While we can't gurantee that you'll see these gardens specifically, you will see the beautiful English countryside to your hearts content on this tour which takes you all through Britain. Highlights include: visiting Shakespeare's home, walking around the Bronte parsonage, and an excursion to the famed British museum. 

Winnipeg, Canada

As National Geographic points out, Winnipeg is not a place you usually see on a bucket list. However the capital of Manitoba, affectionally known as "the Peg" clearly deserves a second look. This tour takes you further east, starting in Toronto and ending in Ottowa, with stops in Montreal and Quebec in between. Highlights include sampling Canada's famous "ice wine," following the path of the St. Lawrence River and seeing Montmorency Falls, and visiting the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Rideau Canal.

Côte d'Or, France

This 6 day tour takes you by bike through the picturesque, premier wine producing region of Burgundy. You will have the opportunity to taste wines from the oldest winery in the region, and eat in Michelin Star restaurants. Greenland 

Still one of the least traveled to countries, Greenland presents a wealth of impressive things to see, especially for nature lovers. This tour will bring you face to face with incredible wildlife, journey through spectacular fjords, and explore the fascinating history of this islands indigenous people. 

Hawaii Volcano's National Park

Nothing beats seeing a volcano up close, and Hawaii has them in abundance. This tour reveals the volcanic, spanning 70 million years that created, shaped, and formed, the islands and the Hawaiian culture. 

Bhutan

Historically difficult to get to, Bhutan maintains a mysterious aura, not widely visited by tourists. Travelers are only able to visit through official Bhutanese tour operators or their affliiates, so there are a limited number of tour companies who operate there. This photo tour showcases some of Bhutan's most famous sites, but will also allow you time to explore more hidden gems. Some activities are quite physical, including multiple photo hikes and walks, so be prepared for that. Be sure to pack your wide angle to capture some incredible views!
